Introductory post
God I am really not good at non-scripted introductions. I was going to steal whatever I wrote as an intro on my old LJ but it was a) extremely embarrassing and b) not a real introduction. I was also nervous about using my real name here, but fuck it, my family is technologically illiterate, they won't find this HAHA JUST KIDDING I POSTED THIS AND IMMEDIATELY REGRETTED IT, TIME FOR A PSEUDONYM.
So, I'm Haru. I'm a 23yo struggling through university, studying criminology with an official focus in legal studies and unofficial focuses in LGBT issues and justice reform*. My gender is [vague hand motions] but I'm more or less female, so she/her pronouns are fine as a default. I've also been tentatively testing out masculine forms of address so feel free to throw some of those my way. Or neutral ones. Really, I'm not too fussed.
When I'm not working or doing classwork, I have a lot of artsy-fartsy hobbies that I enjoy. I love DIY projects, painting, drawing, reading, writing, graphic design, curbing impulse purchases, and collecting weird tchotchkes at thrift stores to confuse and terrify my friends and family.
I've been a part of fandom spaces since around 2007 and it's been a big part of my life ever since then. My fandoms tend to change around a lot, but at the moment my primary involvement is with Star Trek, Star Wars, Fire Emblem, and Dragon Age. Those are just the fandoms that I've been personally active in recently, so it's less "these are my current favorites" and more "these are currently the things I like with very active fandoms". I'll probably make a broader list of fandoms and ships that I like later, because who doesn't love talking about themselves.
I haven't done an actual intro post in forever and truthfully I'm running out of steam, which is a little embarrassing.I might come back to this later okay I never actually do. I'll rephrase and say this may have a part two later.
*My university has official "focuses" for large majors, which is where legal studies come in, but I've personally tailored my courses towards the LGBT/reform areas.
